Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.S)

1. The most oft asked question from those who view this matrix opal is "has it been painted?" or "has it been enameled?". Although it often appears to be cloisonne or champleve enameling (and works well when incorporated into this type of jewelry), our stones are 100% natural and untreated in any way, except the cut and polish.(The Jewelers' Dictionary published by Jewelers' Circular-Keystone defines: cloisonne - A type of decoration for enameled metal-ware, consisting of narrow thin strips of metal soldered in the form of designs to the surface of a piece of ware, the spaces enclosed by the little metal walls filled with different colors of enamel, and the enamel surface ground and polished after fusing, these with the enamel forming the decoration; and champleve - A process adopted by the early enamellers in producing plates for the foundation of their work. Depressions are etched or carved, then filled with transparent or opaque enamels and fired, leaving the metal partly exposed).

2."Waiter! There's a pit in my stone!" Matrix material often has tiny pits which the opal failed to fill. Some cutters fill these with a clear epoxy mixed with fine ironstone dust, a good technique that is all but invisible to the naked eye. If you would like us to treat the stone you've purchased like that, let us know and we'll do so free of charge. We, on the other hand, prefer to leave the material natural unless you request otherwise.

3. How do I know you won't take my money, hop on the next passing kangaroo, and disappear into the outback? The answer is that we've been here for 30 years with a blemish free reputation in the industry, and have no reason to jeopardise what we've worked so hard to establish. We're more interested in making good customer relations that will last at least another 30 years. We have adopted the most secure method we can find to ensure your finances and data safety. Don't supply your credit card # over the web, just fill out the form on "Purchase" page, and we'll phone you back for details. If you purchase using a credit card you are protected by our Merchant's Agreement with Visa, etc.We also accept personal U.S.checks, and bank draughts from other countries in U.S. dollars. Personal U.S. checks are our favorite because they avoid any fees from the credit card companies, and don't put your card info on line. If you wish to pay this way just fill out the application on the Purchase page, and we'll phone or email you back with deposit details.

4. What kind of guarantee do I have? Thirty (30) days from receipt of goods,100% money back on the price of the stone (not shipping, insurance, etc.), for any reason you like whatsoever, providing the stone is in the same condition as when we sent it to you. Return the stone (or whatever you purchased) and we'll return the money.

5. What do I do if I have a problem or question regarding opal, stoned or otherwise? Just send us an email and we'll try to help. If WE are the problem, we'll solve it. We prefer a happy, long time customer who will recommend us to others. Let us know what it takes.
